Developing Standards for Documentation
The Documentation workgroup seeks to develop standards for documentation of patients’ disability status in Electronic Health Records and then use of the information to inform accessible care.
NEW! In July 2022, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) released version 3 of their United States Core Data for Interoperability standards, which introduced the “Disability Status” data element. In response, the DEC Documentation Workgroup has developed the implementation guide: Documenting Disability Status in Electronic Health Records.
